Keito: Hmph...

Keito: I see, I understand Eichi's point. You asked about the circumstances, just drank some tea and shamelessly came back here...... Kanzaki?

Souma: I- Indeed! It is inexcusable! Should I have cut down two-- three members of 『fine』!?

Keito: Don't cut them down. You, keep your rampages in check. It's impossible for even me to cover for you so many times, honestly.

Keito: If we cause a violent incident, the result of that will be the immediate destruction of 'Akatsuki'.

Keito: Well, I'll leave the lecture for later, since I had become a coward, and you went to scold him in my stead….

Keito: Conversely, it was because of that that I regained my composure, although I won’t praise you for it. Reflect upon what you did, as there won’t be a second time.

Souma: Indeed! I shall be good! Therefore, I ask you not to abandon me, Hasumi-dono!

Souma: I still wish to participate in 『Akatsuki』 together with you, Hasumi-dono, I shall even seal away this Japanese sword for a brief period, so...!

Keito: Whether you seal it away or whatever else, don't carry around that sort of dangerous weapon in the first place. Are you truly reflecting on it, you?

Keito: Kanzaki, stand outside holding these buckets for a moment. When I caused mischief at my home`s temple, I was given that sort of punishment as well.

Keito: While you're at it, recite a Buddhist prayer as vocal training.

Souma: Uu, I have previously been given a similar punishment at my home as well! We are similar comrades, Hasumi-dono!

Souma: I’m not familiar with Buddhist prayer, so I shall recite  『Akatsuki』’s songs from memory in their stead~♪

Keito: While you`re at it, I request you keep your voice down, I have something important I want to discuss with Kiryu.

Kuro: Hey, boss. I heard the details of the ‘Quarrel Festival’ or somethin’ from the little miss.

Kuro: Looks like the costumes the little miss made’ll be used in this ‘Quarrel Festival’. Sounds like a dangerous name, doesn`t it. I mean, it's not really idol-like?

Kuro: Apparently ‘Quarrel Festival’ is gonna be ranked as a B1 live from what I’ve heard.

Kuro: It`s an unofficial, unregulated match, though ‘B1’ lives also have a lot of ridiculous things in them.

Kuro: Guess it’s because it’s summer vacation. There are barely any official Dreamfes held at school right now, so there`ve been nothing but B1 lives.

Kuro: It`s a Dream Fes that they`ll be holding in a few days, so it feels like they chose it on the spot, doesn`t it?

Keito: B1, huh… I’m not very fond of them, but Eichi doesn’t care when it comes to that kind of thing. However, ‘Quarrel Festival’ is a worrying name, are we going to start exchanging punches?

Kuro: If we’re throwing punches, you’ve got me and Kanzaki, so we’re not losin’ to the likes of 『fine』, that’s for sure. Ah, but this actually seems to have a summer festival feeling to it, huh, like the mikoshi fights they always do?

Keito: Hmph… if this becomes a showdown between 『fine』 and 『Akatsuki』, it`ll surely be the peak decisive battle. However, I would have liked to face off on a more formal, prestigious stage, but...

Keito: Well, we don’t have the privilege of choosing.

Keito: This Dreamfes… If we cannot win against 『fine』 in this ‘Quarrel Festival’, 『Akatsuki』 will disband.

Keito: That is the official statement I saw in the document before I collapsed. The Quarrel Festival…it will be the decisive match that will determine our fate.

Kuro: That damn president behaves unreasonably too, doesn’t he. The hell is his problem, livin’ so recklessly...

Kuro: I was a little worried, actually, since you’re always obediently agreeing with the student council president.

Kuro: If he ordered you to disband, I thought you’d just resign yourself and take it.

Keito: Hmph. I’m not Eichi’s slave. I’ll adamantly object to any senseless command.

Keito: If this was a matter concerning me and me alone, I might have been tempted to give in, but I absolutely cannot let myself drag you and Kanzaki down with me. That is my responsibility, as the leader of 『Akatsuki』.

Keito: Seems it is precisely because Eichi wants to face me in earnest that he has dared to cut off any means of escape.

Keito: Of course, during a life or death situation for my unit, I cannot just stand idly by and observe.

Keito: I'm sorry that you two had to get involved in Eichi’s ridiculous ploy for attention.

Keito: I'll apologise on behalf of Eichi. He’s really causing you a lot of trouble.

Kuro: Wait a sec`, boss. You don`t have a thing to apologize for, you didn’t do anythin` wrong!

Kuro: Don`t be so damn serious all the time. In other words, you`re being a sissy.

Kuro: If it`s a ‘quarrel’ they`re looking for, then let`s give `em one.

Kuro: How good is 『fine』 anyway? While they were takin' a break, we were fightin’ plenty of fierce battles. Our true strength is about the same as theirs.

Kuro: You’ve got nothin’ to be afraid of, so let`s do it. I ain’t Kanzaki, but I`m gettin` a little fed up too...

Kuro: ...with that “His Majesty, the ‘Emperor’”`s tyrannical way of doin’ things.

Keito: Don`t say bad things about Eichi. Well, it`s your nature to go against authority, huh...

Keito: I`ve made you endure many things for my sake, and once more I`ll apologize. I`m sorry for everything, Kiryu.

Kuro: That`s the kind of thing you`ve promised not to say. I’m workin’ as part of 『Akatsuki』 because I want to, and I’m doing it happily. I love performing in Lives with you all.

Kuro: And that’s why I won`t go easy on 『Akatsuki』`s enemies.

Kuro: Originally, I was here for the flimsy reason that my sister likes idols. Honestly, this was the result.

Kuro: But, y`know. We became companions, and we worked together… it’s not ‘just that’ anymore, I also seriously want to be an idol.

Kuro: Being with anyone else but you guys, I can`t even think about it. I`ll continue to protect 『Akatsuki』.

Kuro: Now's not the time to be hangin' your head, boss Hasumi. Even though things are like this, we’re countin’ on you.

Keito: Hmm. Thank you, Kiryu. It's true, I still haven’t quite been able to sort out my feelings yet, but…

Keito: ...We don't have that many days until the 'Quarrel Festival', so we’ll do our best and leave the rest to the heavens above.

Keito: Let`s start working. For the sake of 『Akatsuki』’s future.

Kuro: Yeah. That’s our reliable boss. Ahh, I’m glad, since the ‘Quarrel Festival’s details are the way they are…

Kuro: I was sure you`d flip your lid so I was worried for a while there, you know?

Keito: What? Details? Sorry, I don’t think I’ve heard anything about that...

Keito: For such a crucial thing to slip past me, it seems like like I`m still shaken, despite myself. What kind of Dreamfes is the ‘Quarrel Festival’?

Kuro: Oh, you haven`t had it properly explained to you yet. The ‘Quarrel Festival’ is like ‘Tanabata’, in that it looks like little miss (player)`s doing the planning for it.

Kuro: Actually, ‘Quarrel Festival’ is like an abbreviation.

Kuro: Officially, it’s ‘Beat the Summer Heat ☆ Drive Off that Heat Wave with a Mikoshi Fight! A Clash of Sweat and Sweat, Muscle and Muscle, Man and Man! Heave-ho Heave-ho Festival’.

Kuro: ...so it seems.

Keito: TRAAAAANSFEEEEER STUUUDEEEENT!?

★

Translation Notes!
In Keito`s line regarding Eichi`s "ploy for attention" he uses the phrase かまってちゃん which is literally, in some dictionaries, "attention whore". Or just "attention seeker" if you wish to be more polite.

In one of Kuro`s lines, it would sound more natural to use "If it`s a ‘fight' they`re looking for" but we used the main meaning of 喧嘩 which is "quarrel" as an allusion to the title of the event.

One big thing we all learned from this chapter; the Kenka Matsuri is a real thing! The most famous one is in Himeji. If you google 'kenka matsuri' you will see various articles detailing on the event that would do it more respect than one link/a quick explanation. There are also mikoshi specifically for fighting (kenkamikoshi) as mentioned in this chapter by Kuro, where the mikoshi are rammed into one another during this festival.

And speaking of festivals, ワツショイ (translated here as heave-ho) is a common festival chant. Many phrases are chanted for festivals in Japan that have no direct English equivalent, but are used as encouraging chants for festival participants.
