Valkyrie Dictionary
Commentary on the terminology that the members of Valkyrie use. Here`s your introduction to Valkyrie Vocabulary 101!
飴ちゃん
Ame-chan
みかの好きな食べもの。関西出身なので「飴ちゃん」と呼ぶ。ちなみに、歯まないといけないガムはあまり好きではない。
Mika`s favourite food. As a Kansai native, he calls candy ‘Ame-chan.’ By the way, he doesn`t really like gum, which you have to chew.

いつも飴を持ち歩いているが、ポケットが破れていることに気づかず、落としてしまうことも。
He`s always carrying around candy, but he doesn`t notice the tears in his pockets, and drops some of it.
糸電話
Cup phone
以前、宗が零と校内で会話するときに使っていた。現在、宗はスマホを持っているが、それほど好きではないようだ。
In the past, Shu and Rei would use this to communicate inside the school. In the present, Shu has a smartphone, however he does not like to use it very much.

さすがのみかも、宗が電話で通話していることには驚きを隠せない…!?
As expected, even Mika can`t hide his surprise at Shu having a conversation on the phone…!?
お師さん
“Oshi-san”*
宗のこと。「師匠」を敬い、親しみを込めて呼ぶときの名称。現在、宗を「お師さん」というのはみかだけ。
Refers to Shu. A title that incorporates respect for “master,” and likewise includes affection. Presently, Mika is the only one to call Shu “Oshi-san.”

以前のなずなは「お師さん」「みかちん」と愛称を使っていたが、脱退後は名字でよんでいる。
In the past, Nazuna would use the nicknames “Oshi-san” and “Mika-chin.” However, after his withdrawal from Valkyrie, he uses their surnames.
*There are various ways to translate this word, such as “teacher” and “master,” with one of the most popular being “mentor.” Due to the nature of special title connotations (senpai, kouhai, etc) not passing through languages, I left it as such.
クロワッサン
Croissant
宗の好物であり、主食ともいえるパン。凝り性の彼は自宅に窯を作り、栄養価の高い特別なクロワッサンを焼いている。
Shu`s favourite, and you could even call it his staple food. This fastidious boy made a traditional oven in his own home and bakes special croissants with higher nutritional value.

購買部で販売されているクロワッサンも絶品で、焼きたてを求めて宗が足を運ぶことも多い。
Since the croissants sold in the school store are also excellently made, Shu goes there often in search of freshly baked ones.
校内アルバイト
School Part Time Jobs
学院内で使用できる通貨がもらえるアルバイト。清掃や舞台の設営、チケットのもぎりなど、仕事の主流は幅広い。
Part time jobs that earn a type of currency that is used within the school. From cleaning and stage construction to ticket collecting, the types of jobs are vast.

ユニットの活動資金を得るため、よく校内アルバイトをしているみか+創は顔なじみ。
Mika and Hajime are familiar with one another by working many school part time jobs in order to obtain unit funds.
五奇人
Five Eccentrics
宗、零、渉、奏汰、夏目のこと。類い稀なる才能を持つ彼らの総称として、ある人物が呼ぶ初め、学院中に広まった。
Refers to Shu, Rei, Wataru, Kanata, and Natsume. A term that a certain individual began to use to refer to these uniquely talented people and which spread throughout the school.

宗は五奇人といわれることを嫌がる素振りを見せるが、4人のことは大切な友達と思っている。
Although Shu acts like he hates to be called one of the Five Eccentrics, he thinks of the other four as his precious friends.
3-A
3年A組。宗、英智、敬人、薫、泉、千秋がいるクラス。宗は零や渉、なずなと同じ3年B組がよかったらしい…?
Third year, class A. A class with Shu, Eichi, Keito, Kaoru, Izumi, and Chiaki. It seems Shu would rather have been in the 3rd year class B with Rei, Wataru, and Nazuna...?

英智を毛嫌いする宗。マドモアゼルを人質に取られ渋々一緒にゲームセンターへ遊ぶに行く!?
Shu despises Eichi. Mademoiselle is taken hostage so that Shu will come and play at the game center with him!?
手芸ぶ
Handicrafts Club
宗が部長を務め、みか、つむぎが所属している。土曜が活動日になっているが、必ずしも宗が参加するとは限らない。
Shu is the president, with Mika and Tsumugi as members. Although Saturday is the day for club activities, Shu doesn`t necessarily participate all the time.

ある出来事のあと、つむぎはあまり部活に参加していない。みかは彼を呼びに来て…?
After a certain incident, Tsumugi does not participate in club activities very often. Mika has come to invite him…?
地下ライブハウス
Underground Live House
繁華街の一角にあり、ValkyrieやUNDEADが好んで使用している会場。ライブハウスには彼らの専用ロッカーもある。
In a corner in the shopping district is a venue that Valkyrie and UNDEADs are fond of using. The two also have personal lockers in this Live House.

転校生からのライブ依頼を受け、初めて会場にやって来たみかは、この空間を気に入った様子♪
After receiving a live request from the transfer student, Mika seems to like this venue after visiting for the first time ♪
帝王
Sovereign*
学院の最高実力者であった宗の異名のひとつ。だが、Valkyrieのリーダーのことを「帝王」とも呼んでいるようで…
One of the names for Shu, who was once the most influential person at the academy. However, it seems that the leader of Valkyrie is also called “Sovereign,” and so...**

自身を「帝王」や「神」という宗。確かな実力と完璧な美意識がある彼だからこそ呼ぶ名。
Shu calls himself “Sovereign” and “God.” He is called such since he unmistakably possesses competence and a perfect aesthetic sense.
*帝王 (teiou) can also be translated as emperor, but as the word is different from the “emperor” Eichi uses in both title and tone, sovereign is more often chosen by translators.
**The tone in this definition is a bit confusing, but the second sentence alludes to the tile of Sovereign being passed on to the future leader of Valkyrie as referenced by the story of StarFes and Mika`s card in that event.
2-B
2年B組。みか、晃牙,凛月、真緒、弓弦、嵐がいる。友人の嵐はもちろん、凛月からも愛称で呼ばれている姿が見れる。
Second year, class B. Mika, Koga, Ritsu, Mao, Yuzuru, and Arashi. Naturally his friend Arashi calls Mika by a nickname, but Ritsu does as well.

1人ピンチを乗り越えようとするみか。黙っていられなかった嵐は、彼を助けようとする。
Mika is overcoming a pinch all by himself. Not one to be silenced, Arashi wishes to help.
ぬいぐるみ
Stuffed Animals
ぬいぐるみを集めることがみかの趣味。拾ってきたぬいぐるみにリボンをつけるなど、リメイクをしている。
Mika`s hobby is collecting stuffed animals. He remakes them by adorning the stuffed animals he has picked up with ribbons and such.

みかの影響で、じつはクレーンゲームが上手な宗。みかのためにぬいぐるみを持ち帰ろうとする。
Due to Mika`s influence, Shu has actually become quite skilled at crane games. For Mika`s sake, he tries to bring them home.
Mademoiselle
宗がとても大事にしているアンティーク人形の女の子。みかからは「マド姉ェ」と呼ばれて慕われている.
The antique female doll that Shu cherishes dearly. Mika adores her and calls her “Mado-nee”*.

「マドモアゼル」はフランス語で未婚の女性を指す言葉。彼女の衣服は宗の手作り。
“Mademoiselle” is French for a young unmarried lady. Her clothes are handmade by Shu.
*Most people know, but just in case, the -nee comes from Onee-san (sister).
りゅ~くん
“Ryu~kun”
紅郎のこと。宗は幼なじみの彼を「りゅ~くん」とよんでいた。現在は「鬼龍」だが、たまに愛称を口にすることも。
Regarding Kuro. Shu once called his childhood friend “Ryu~kun.” Presently, he calls him “Kiryu” but will occasionally let the old nickname slip.

紅郎からは「いっちゃん」と呼ばれていた宗。2人はさまざまな思い出すを共有している。
Kuro once called Shu “Icchan.” The two of them share various memories.

お師さん
